Baltimore is often overlooked as one of the great places for spring break for families. It is much cheaper to visit than neighboring DC, while still offering families lots to do during their visit. 

Plus, in Baltimore, you can skip the crazy cherry-blossom crowds in DC. Baltimore is also home to a cherry blossom basin along the harbor at Fort McHenry National Monument. They usually bloom around the end of March or early April, just in time for Spring Break. There is easy parking on site and the crowds are so much lighter so you can enjoy the blossoms in a more peaceful environment. 

You’ll also find the National Aquarium in Baltimore’s inner harbor. It is an awesome 5-level aquarium that is a perfect stop for families with kids. Once you’re done at the aquarium, you can walk across the street to get crab cakes at Miss Shirley’s.  For even more kid-friendly attractions, you’re also within walking distance to Maryland Science Center and the Port Discovery Children’s Museum.

Chicago is one of the best cities to visit in the US during spring break for its many family-friendly attractions and activities.

Kids will enjoy spending time at Navy Pier which is home to a large ferris wheel (with amazing skyline views) and other fun rides as well as the Chicago Children’s Museum.

Millennium Park, which is known for The Bean sculpture, is another must see attraction. Families visiting Chicago with toddlers and young kids should also stop by neighboring Maggie Daley Park.

Chicago has many great museums for kids of all ages including The Museum of Science and Industry and the Field Museum. If time allows, families can also visit the Adler Planetarium and Shedd Aquarium which are both conveniently located right next to the Field Museum.

Other great family friendly attractions in Chicago include two observatories for city views from above, Garfield Park Conservatory and the free Lincoln Park Zoo.

Make sure to try Chicago-style deep dish pizza during your visit – Lou Malnati’s and Giordano’s are two of the best and most popular restaurants for pizza.

21. Las Vegas, Nevada

When you think of family-friendly places to visit, Las Vegas, Nevada is not usually on the top of that list, but it is one of the perfect places for spring break. The weather is perfect and there is something for everyone in the family to enjoy in Las Vegas!

If your family loves to explore slot canyons like we do, there are some amazing slot canyons around Las Vegas such as White Owl Canyon. For the history buffs, take a tour of Hoover Dam. Hikers can check out Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. And for your mermaid-obsessed kids, watch the mermaid show at the Silverton Hotel. If you want to play in the water, visit Lake Mead.

Most of the casinos down The Strip have an attraction that is worth checking out. Our favorite is the Bellagio Fountain, followed closely by pelican feeding time at The Flamingo. There are even free trams to ride between some of the hotels. 

A fun dinner while in Las Vegas is Tournament of the Kings at Excalibur. This is a kid-friendly medieval dinner and a show with kings and knights and jousting. Las Vegas is lots of fun and a perfect spring getaway for the whole family.

22. Phoenix, Arizona

Phoenix, Arizona is one of the best places for spring for families in the USA. In addition to having gorgeous weather in March and April, there’s a variety of activities for all members of the family.

The Phoenix metropolitan area is the fifth largest city in the country and has a land mass of 14,599 mi². With all that space, there is no end to exciting spring break excursions. The Desert Botanical Garden’s Spring Butterfly Exhibit is a must-see, providing a mesmerizing display of colorful butterflies set against the backdrop of the stunning desert landscape.

Spring in Phoenix is the perfect time of year to explore outdoor activities like hiking Camelback Mountain or the White Tanks, wandering the Phoenix Zoo, or hanging out at Tempe Town Lake.

Located in Southern Utah, near the border of Colorado, Moab is a desert adventure destination that is one of the best places for spring break for families. Spring is one of the best times of year to visit Moab thanks to its pleasant weather and abundance of outdoor recreation opportunities.

No Spring Break trip to Moab would be complete without hitting the trail for a hike. Nearby Arches National Park is home to a number of iconic hikes that are fun for the whole family, like Delicate Arch, Devils Garden, and Sand Dune Arch. Toronto is the largest city in Canada and a vibrant place for families to visit during spring break. Known for its multicultural neighborhoods, iconic skyline and endless popular attractions, there are plenty of things to do in Toronto!

Topping the list of family friendly activities are Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada, the Toronto Zoo, the Royal Ontario Museum, the Hockey Hall of Fame, and the Ontario Science Centre. All these attractions have activities or exhibitions designed to keep young ones (and parents) engaged and entertained.

Plus, you can’t visit Toronto without heading up the CN tower for breathtaking panoramic views and a thrilling experience for the kids.
