Amenities at The Grove Resort and Water Park
You’ll find no shortage of things to do at The Grove Resort. Between the spa, springs pools, Safari Water Park, Flip Flop’s Arcade, and Lake Austin Pier, there’s sure to be something for everyone to enjoy. The resort also has an activity calendar filled with various things to do throughout each day.
At Lake Austin Pier, you can book fishing charters, pontoon tours, kayaks, fishing poles, or swan paddle boats. If we were to ever visit again, we would definitely fit one of these activities into our day.
Looking for a bit more relaxation? Then you can enjoy one of the many services offered by the Escape Spa. From facials, to nail services, massages, and waxes, they have it all.
The Grove Resort and Water Park also offers 4 dining options throughout the property.

- The Springs Bar & Grill
- Valencia Restaurant
We enjoyed grabbing coffee and a light breakfast at Alfresco Market and had lunch by the pool at Longboard Bar & Grill. At Safari Water Park, you can order food/drinks right from your lounge chairs thanks to the many servers walking around.

How We Spent Our Time at The Grove Resort
Since this was a staycation, we spent most of our time at the Safari Water Park. You can pay a fee to reserve chairs or even a cabana, otherwise it’s first come first serve. It’s also important to note that you cannot bring outside food and drink to the pool areas. We arrived mid-afternoon on our first day and first thing on our second and were able to grab great seats for our entire party.
A majority of our day was spent in the lazy river as it offered the most shade and we had seats near the entrance. The river can get over crowded, at times, in some areas and the tubes are first come first serve, so you may not always have one. While their website said personal tubes weren’t allowed in the river, I saw many use their own and weren’t told otherwise.
Eleanor really loved the kid’s area, though it’s definitely heavily populated, at least on a busy holiday weekend. The kid’s area features 3 slides of various levels, waterfalls, and more. And for some reason the kid’s area water was colder than any of the other water.
How does it Compare to Disney Resorts?
If you’re planning a weeklong vacation to Walt Disney World and are looking for an affordable resort that can accommodate your family and be close to the parks, then I believe The Grove Resort is perfect. Not only can you stay in a 2 or 3 bedroom suite, but each suite has it’s own washer/dryer and full kitchen.
And while you may not receive top tier Disney service, you’ll have a comfortable place to sleep and plenty to do. Not to mention, The Grove Resort also offers free shuttle service to Disney Theme Parks, as well as, Universal Studios and SeaWorld.
We have personally only stayed at three Disney Resorts, but I do think The Grove Resort has the best pool area. There were plenty of places to find shade and multiple swimming areas (lazy river, large pool, water slides, kid’s area). However, I noticed the life guards at The Grove Resort weren’t as tentative as those at Disney Resorts.
Would We Stay Again?
Short answer, absolutely. For the price and offerings, we felt it was well worth it for our family to enjoy endless hours in the sun at Safari Water Park. There’s also plenty of restaurants and shopping nearby for when we need a break. As Eleanor says, “it was the best day ever”.
