The 7 Best Orlando Staycations for Families
Let’s face it, sometimes as parents we don’t have the ability to take an elaborate vacation out of state or even longer than the weekend. In addition, maybe you have little ones that make traveling difficult. That’s why staycations have become a favorite for our family! We’ve had the opportunity to stay at several resorts in Central Florida and I’m here to share the BEST Orlando staycations for families!
5+ Best Orlando Staycations
1. The Grove Resort & Water Park
If you’re looking to have some fun in the sun, then an Orlando staycation at The Grove Resort & Water Park is perfect for you!
What’s unique about The Grove Resort is that everything is going to be a two or three bedroom suite, complete with a full kitchen. This is a great option for large families or families looking to travel with multi-generations. If you’re planning to stay longer, the kitchen is a great way to save on meals as you can prepare them yourself.
The water park features a lazy river, water slides, a kid’s splash pad with mini slides, flow rider, and multiple pools. In addition, families can enjoy fishing from the pier, arcade, or resort planned events.
2. Gaylord Palms
Quite possibly, one of our favorite Orlando staycations has been at the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center.
The Gaylord Palms also features an incredible water park and is great for families who love the water. Our favorite feature of the water park is known as Crystal River Rapids. It’s basically a lazy river on steroids! Of course, families can also enjoy the numerous waterslides, flow rider, and kid’s water playground.
If you plan your Gaylord Palms staycation near a holiday season, you can enjoy fun holiday themed activities, too. This could be a pirate treasure hunt, the ICE experience, or an Easter egg extravaganza, etc. Some of these activities may require an additional fee.
3. Disney Resorts
With Orlando being the home of Walt Disney World, there are over 20 Disney resorts in the Orlando area. Some of our favorite Orlando staycations have been at a Disney resort.
Families looking for a truly unique experience can stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge, which features numerous wildlife right on property.
Or perhaps you’d like to stay at one of our favorite Disney resorts, Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa. Here you can enjoy multiple family pools, a spa, beautiful scenery, a community center, and more! At the community center, families can enjoy crafts, movies, games, or rent bikes. This was definitely one of our favorite features of the resort as it allowed time to relax after hours in the sun. It’s also nice if you happen to have a rainy day during your staycation. In addition, the two main pools both feature fun water slides, which is always a hit with our daughter.
Another great Disney resort to visit is Copper Creek Villas and Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. Here you can enjoy two pools, a kid’s water splash park, jogging trail, arcade, character dining, and more! Families can also enjoy a nightly electric water pageant on the river.
4. Omni Orlando Resort
Another one of the best Orlando staycations is Omni Orlando Resort located in Championsgate. Here families can enjoy golf, another amazing water park–complete with a lazy river, and more.
There are ten dining options on property, ensuring you never have to leave. In addition, kids can enjoy there own pizza making class!
Omni Orlando also recently opened there own version of Top Golf called Eagles Edge, which is sure to be a fun family activity.
5. Caribe Royale
Another great Orlando staycation resort is the Caribe Royale which features suites and villas. As a family of three, we love when we find a resort with affordable spacious suites or multi-bedroom villas.
At Caribe Royale, you’ll find several dining options and a Starbucks on site. We really enjoyed dining at the Venetian Chop House, which is an upscale dining experience, but kid friendly.
Caribe Royale’s pool is also a standout feature. Of course, any pool with a fun waterslide is a hit with our daughter. The pool also features a massive waterfall. There is plenty of seating around the pool and you can even receive poolside service when you need a bite to eat.
The resort also provides complimentary shuttles to the nearby theme parks if you’re looking to have a Disney day during your staycation, too.
6. Hilton Orlando
Located near International Drive, Hilton Orlando is a perfect Orlando staycation destination for families looking to fill their time with fun activities outside the resort.
On property, families can once again enjoy an incredible pool area featuring a lazy river, water slides, and more.
Aside from the resort, families can enjoy ICON Park, which features an aquarium, illusions museum, and more , a plethora of dining options, and endless shopping. There’s also a movie theatre if the family needs something to do in the event it rains.
7. Four Seasons Orlando
If you’re looking for a more luxurious Orlando staycation, then the Four Seasons Resort Orlando is the place to stay!
Four Seasons Orlando is sure to be the perfect oasis featuring Explorer Island water park, an adult-only pool (Four Seasons will entertain your kids for free at kids camp), and state of the art spa.
By now, you may be noticing a trend, but Orlando resorts love to have a dynamite pool area with slides and more ensuring guests keep cool in the Florida heat. At Four Seasons Orlando you’ll enjoy yet another lazy river and spectacular water slides.
In addition, families can enjoy a character breakfast with Goofy and his pals. Little ones can enjoy a special day at spa complete with a prince/princess outfit. Then, end the day with a view of the Walt Disney World fireworks!
